Genesis 1:1
1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
The first line in the AV 1611 proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that this book is going to be the most unusual one ever written.
There are ten words in the sentence. (In the Hebrew text there are seven.) This designed coincidence is remarkable when one studies the numerology of the Bible and learns that the number seven is the number of “perfection” or completion given as a sign to Israel, while the number ten is the number of the Gentile.
The Hebrew text, under the examination of the Russian scholar Panin, exhibits even greater peculiarities which space will not permit listing. Psalm 12:6 tells us that the Hebrew text is “tried…seven times.” “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times”.
Since God told the Hebrews to observe “sevens” throughout their national feasts (Lev. 23, 25), we are not surprised to find the opening words of the Hebrew Bible (Gen. 1:1) are “Berashith bara Elohim eth hashamayim waeth ha’aretz”—7 words, with 28 Hebrew letters (4×7), 14 letters in the subject (2×7), 14 letters in the predicate (2×7), and “God” as the third word in the sentence.
But the wonders of the text only begin here. The thorough student upon examining Genesis 1:1, is struck by the fact that in the very first verse of the Bible, without apologies to anyone, the Holy Spirit attacks the six favorite philosophies or religions of mankind.
- “GOD created”: this denies atheism, for the first statement is that there is a God present. (There went Marx, Lenin, and Trotsky!)
- “GOD created”: notice the singular. The “gods” (Psa. 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. and 2 Cor. 4:4 “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them”.) did not create the Universe. There went the Babylonian mythology of the “demiurge,” and there went Siva, Krishna, Pali, and a thousand Hindu “deities.” (No wonder the Bible leaves a bad taste in an ecumenical mouth!)
- “GOD created”: if God “created,” and Jesus said that He did—see Mark 13:19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.—then Darwin has blundered and has led astray 80 percent of the high school teachers in America. Nor does “Theistic Evolution” offer a decent substitute, for the statement is that God “CREATED”; He “evolved” nothing. Jesus was a “Creationist” (Mark 13:19), and Moses said “Amen” to this theology in Deut. 4:32 For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it? If Jesus “corrected Moses” in the Sermon on the Mount (and the Liberals believe that He did), how is it that He forgot to correct Moses’ mistaken ideas about evolution and Creationism?
- “God created THE HEAVEN”: the verse now takes a sideswipe at Unity, Unitarianism, Brahmanism, and Christian Science, for the verse declares that God is separate from His creation. This defeats the philosophy of “pantheism” which teaches that God is “one with matter.” The universe is not God, and God is not “the heaven.” It therefore follows that the “Kingdom of God” is not the “Kingdom of Heaven,” for “God is a Spirit” (John 4:24), and the “heavens” are literal, physical, visible elements.
Heaven, in the Scriptures, is used as the space between the earth and the clouds (Acts 1:9–11:: 9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.; Job 35:5 Look unto the heavens (notice the plural), and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.), Heaven also in the Scriptures refer to the space between the atmosphere and the solar system (Gen. 1:1::In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth), and the space between the galaxies and the presence of God Himself (Rev. 4:1–3–1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald).
This direction is straight north, over the star Alpha Draconis (Psa. 75:6, 7–6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.). Psa 48:1, 2–1 (A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah.) Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. 2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.; Isa. 14:12–14–12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.; Job 26:7—7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing., Job 37:22-Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty). Now folk there is no need to run to the Hebrew “Shamayim” or the Greek “ouranos” for the King James English plainly informs us that there is a cosmology out there superior to that taught at NASA.
5.“IN THE BEGINNING God”: the verse now attacks the Greek philosophers (regardless of which school they professed to follow), for all Greek philosophers believed in the eternity of matter, exactly as it is taught in the state universities today. The heavens are not “in the beginning”, God is in the “beginning”: Jn.1:1-3:— 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. And if you want to see one major corruption on this matter read Goodspeed’s translation. The Holy Spirit makes it very clear without any interpretation of any Greek or Hebrew who and what was in the beginning and the order it came in.
- “IN THE BEGINNING GOD created”: clearly indicating the intervention of supernatural power into the visible element and the time element. This is clearly an attack on Kierkegaards’s theory on “existentialism,” and it is somewhat of an insult to Calvin’s fatalism. God does have an active interest in His creation and does insert Himself into the activities of His creatures (see Psa. 148). The glorious uphill procession of mankind into an unknown future is a doctrine which Genesis 1:1 defeats at the start.
The Bible, at the beginning gives you six reasons why it is hated, at the offset it obliterates the major religious and philosophical propositions of the twenty first century. This explains all the opposition which the Bible receives, and it clearly marks the Book, from the beginning, as a negative attack on man. Man is against the Bible because it is against him.
In verse 1 of the Book, we can find all the elements of science summed up in 10 words: (1) Time—beginning, (2) Space—heavens, (3) Motion—created, (4) Matter—the earth, (5) Energy—God created. David, a man who accepted God’s pronouncements against him (2 Sam. 16:10–12), was correct when he stated: “Thy word is true from the beginning” (Psa. 119:160).
So this is the truth!!!! why mankind hates the Word of God. Mankind wants no authority above his own. By Adam’s sin “Choice” and “Curiosity” came into the equation of God’s Kingdom, “you shall be as gods”. Mankind has been pursuing that statement ever since.
Conclusion
Thus far we may conclude that atheism is only a giant doubt. Its unbelief can only lead to darkness and despair and disaster for the one accepting it. It can only lead to anarchy, paganism, or international socialism with the torture and imprisonment of millions of people who do not knuckle down to a state as god. There is not a real atheist anywhere in world. The god of atheism in Russia is International Communism. The god of every atheist and agnostic in America is International Socialism. There is no such thing as a man without a god. If a man does not accept one god he accepts another, and when you find people correcting the Bible, they are setting up their brains and education as their god.
Acceptance of Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God,” leads a sincere seeker into the path of a fuller revelation of God Himself as a Trinity, as the Creator, and above all, as Savior and Redeemer.
Hebrews 11:6 says. “He that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Then, the intelligent man will come to God in simple faith based on the revelation of God in Scripture and nature, believing and trusting that God is, and that a god who would not reveal himself is the wrong god. If there is any God up there at all, He is obligated to reveal Himself to His creation.
This fact delivers a deadly blow to agnostic science when we consider that men communicate to each other by words. The thing that sets man apart from animals, as a separate species of creation, is the fact that man communicates by the use of words and sentences. Animals have only cries for help, cries for hunger, cries of pleasure, warnings to get away, or invitations to come near; but they cannot communicate by words. Therefore, if there is any God up there at all, theologically, it is impossible to believe that He would not reveal Himself to His creation by words. This is so fundamental and foundational in theological truth that when Jesus Christ shows up in John 1, we read. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John says in I John 1, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life.” If there is a Creator at all, He is obligated to reveal Himself to His creation.
Any god who would create what you find down here and then let this world take its course of seven thousand years of torture, abortion, bloodshed, murder, extortion, perversion, death, disease, poverty, heartache, starvation, bereavement, war, and imprisonment, while withdrawing himself, withholding himself, and not taking part in it, should be dismissed at all costs.
Now, it is very important for the theological student to grasp this because theism and deism both believe in a god, however these gods are not actively interested in and participating in their creation. If sin is a problem down here, the God of creation would have to deal with it or he would be the wrong god. If death is a problem down here, a god who wouldn’t actively participate in the death of his creation is not a compassionate god. Therefore, any god, whether man believes in God or not, who is not interested in the sin, sorrow, and death of the beings he created is—I say it reverently—a “phoney.”
The God of the Bible, on the other hand, meets all the requirements. He comes down—God “manifest in the flesh,” 1 Timothy 3:16—and becomes a man. Christ calls Himself the “Son of man,” and “a man of sorrows…acquainted with grief,” a man who was “wounded for our transgressions…bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” I say this only to point out to the unbeliever, student or teacher of the word of God that the God of the Bible is the only god who can meet the requirements of human nature. Any other god is a bitter disappointment and a charlatan. Any other god is a “con-man.”
The God of revelation is the only god who can satisfy the longing of the human heart, for the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is the only God in any religion that is actively interested in coming down and sharing the suffering and sorrow of His creatures, dying in the place of His creatures, and offering to His creatures eternal life as a free gift. This puts all other gods on the bargain counter. They are hoaxes. They are tragic substitutes for the real thing because they cannot satisfy the yearning of the human heart.
God is not subject to the microscopic scrutiny of man. God is the subject of revelation. John 1:18 says, “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.” 1 John 4:12 says, “No man hath seen God at any time.” The Lord said to Moses in Exodus 33:20, “Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me.” Now, Moses talked to God and had a revelation of Him, but he did not see the Lord’s face directly. Jesus, who is a real man in the Bible, was God’s Son, coming down from heaven to reveal God the Father to sinners. So when He spoke to Philip in John 14:7–11, Jesus said that He is the revelation of God. He said, “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.”
Catholicism says, “Join thyself.” Buddhism says, “Annihilate thyself.” Pagan wisdom says, “Man, know thyself.” Islam says, “Man, submit thyself.” Modern education says, “Man, realize thyself.” But Jesus said, “Deny thyself,” and “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;…for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (see Matt. 11:28–30). In John 17:3, we read how God and Christ His Son have eternal life to give. We read, “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” You say, “What about all these other religions that profess the same thing?” Easy. Try them out, and you will find them to be hoaxes. Try them out, and you will find that they do not give you victory over sin. They put you in a passive state where you pretend you don’t have any sins when you still have them.
At the great Congress of Religions at the World’s Fair in 1932 (when scores of religions got together to talk about their ecumenical garbage to try to bring all men together under the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of man), after nearly a week of discussion, Joseph Cook stood up in that group of dignitaries (which included Roman Catholic cardinals and bishops, Greek Orthodox elders and patriarchs, Protestant deacons and preachers, Islamic teachers of the Koran, and Buddhist and Hindu gurus) and said, “How cleansest thou this red right hand?” Now, if you don’t recognize the quotation, the quotation is from Macbeth. After Macbeth commits his murder he says, “How cleansest thou this red right hand”? That is, “Now that I have sinned, how do I get clean”? There was no religion that could tell him how to do it permanently. The Romans told him to confess it, get contrition and absolution for it, and do penance for it, but he couldn’t know for sure the thing was gone because he could only hope for heaven and could not know for sure whether he was going to hell or not until he was dead.
The Protestants told him to live a good life to amend for his sins.
The Buddhists insisted that if he had followed “the noble eightfold path” he wouldn’t have committed the sin, but that never solved the problem.
The problem was having sinned against an Eternal Being who lives forever, how do I pay for it unless I make an eternal payment? That is the problem. They had no answer for it. There is no answer for it, unless what the Bible says is true. “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). And again, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” Colossians 1:14.
Gen. 1:1 “In the beginning God created……”
There is only ONE TRUE GOD!!!
Now that’s only the topping on the cake as to “Why man hates the Bible” let’s get a little deeper!! Now lets input what scripture has to say about it.
Everything mentioned above is what our schools, universities, and false religion teach us, however God’s Holy Word keeps it simple.
Let’s move to Why did God Create–Not for those who do not want the truth:
